American Risk (American Ideal) resumed his dominance in the Truro Raceway top class ranks as the Nova Scotia harness racing track returned to action on Friday (Sep. 2).
The six-year-old, who won four consecutive Winners-Over contests at Truro earlier this year, strode forward from the pylon post for Todd Trites and put all five rivals behind him in a :28 opening panel. The field held single-file formation as he led to the half in :57.2.
Always B Sweet (Ernie Laffin) attacked from third as American Risk passed three-quarters in 1:26. The challenger picked up one place, but American Risk held him a length-and-a-quarter behind to score in 1:55, his fastest victory of the season.
Good Friday (Dale Spence) three finished third. The winner returned $2.80.
American Risk has tallied six times this season for trainer George Rennison. Risky Bizz Group owns the 23-time winner who has made 80 starts for $91,682 in earnings. The gelding has hit the board in the Kelti Burnett Memorial, Linsday Cup, Governorās Plate Consolation, Cecil Ladner Memorial, and Walter Dale Invitational this year.
Trites and Laffin shared top honours with three driving wins apiece on the first Truro card since Jul. 29. Two of Laffinās victories came from his own trainees.
The track will continue racing on Friday, Sep. 2 at 6:00 p.m. ADT.
