Twin B Archie (Archangel) won a second consecutive Ontario Sires Stakes (OSS) Gold in leg three of the harness racing series for three-year-old trotting males on Monday (Aug. 8) at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

Twin B Archie wins the Gold third leg

He settled fifth in a :27.1 first quarter for James MacDonald and shifted outside at the half in :57.1. Safe Conduct (Chris Christoforou) provided cover to three-quarters in 1:26.3, and Twin B Archie swung widest as they straightened for home.

The gelding picked off rivals down the stretch and forged to the front in deep stretch to score in 1:55.

Safe Conduct briefly held the lead but was out-sprinted. Unevergonnagethis (Jody Jamieson) finished third. The winner returned $4.60.

TWIN B ARCHIE REPLAY

Twin B Archie has won half of his 18 career starts. He has earned $614,591 for owners Scott McEneny of Puslinch, Domenic Chiaravalle of Hamilton, Floyd Marshall of Jarvis, and Martwest Racing Stable of Mississauga. McEneny trains the gelding, who has now won five OSS Gold events in his career.

Also on the card, Fashion Frenzie (Archangel) won his third consecutive Open Handicap and improved his record to four-for-four on the year. The four-year-old gelding traveled two-wide through the first turn to make front for Louis-Philippe Roy and was not headed again. Forbidden Trade made progress late from the pocket, but Fashion Frenzie sealed the deal in 1:53. Forbidden Trade was a half-length back in second. Patriarch Hanover (Doug McNair) rallied for third.

FASHION FRENZIE REPLAY

Fashion Frenzie, a double OSS champion, has won 15 of his 23 lifetime starts and has earned $797,685. Richard Moreau trains him for Ecurie Francis Richard, Pierre Guillemette, and Sylvain Richard, all of Becancour, along with Mario Bourgea of Stanbridge East.

MacDonald, who recently returned from an off-track injury, won five of the days 10 races.

The Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots fourth leg for freshman trotters highlights Woodbine Mohawk Park’s next card on Tuesday, Aug. 8. The first race will begin at 7:00 p.m. EDT.
