The Alberta Standardbred Horse Association (ASHA) has informed Trot Insider that the Wednesday, Aug. 16 race date at Century Downs has been cancelled and the Century Casino and ASHA Filly stakes originally scheduled for that final program of the meet have been moved to The Track On 2.
The Century Downs program was cancelled due to a shortage of entries. Both $70,000 two-year-old stakes events will now be raced at The Track On 2 on Sunday, Aug. 20.
ASHA issued the following statement regarding the rescheduling of the stakes:
“In working with our partners Century Casinos and The Track on 2, the ASHA Board has come to an agreement with The Track on 2, to showcase our two-year-old Foaled in Alberta Stakes on Sunday, August 20th, at The Track on 2.
“Unfortunately, Century was unable to host the stakes on their own as non-wagering events, prior to the scheduled post time. The ASHA Board would like to thank horsemen for their patience and understanding as we work with our partners to make this happen.”
