Andy Moore bred, owns, trains, and drives Margosgotthecargo (Big Jim), and the rookie filly came through for the harness racing horseman to make it two-for-two in her career as she stepped up to Woodbine Mohawk Park on Thursday (Dec. 28).
Moore sat the filly fifth as the field traversed the damp surface ā though one far firmer than the sloppy track she handled at Rideau Carleton Raceway on debut. The fractions went in :28.1 and :58 before Margosgotthecargo swung out onto cover going into the far turn.
She was fifth but within four lengths at three-quarters in 1:28, and the filly took off as Moore flashed the leather coming down the lane. She soared to the front at the eighth pole and drew away from her mixed-age rivals to a four-length score in 1:56.2.
Third Time Lucky (Trevor Henry) rallied from eighth to take second from fellow closer Hot Coe Coe (Austin Sorrie).
MARGOSGOTTHECARGO REPLAY
Margosgotthecargo is unbeaten through her first two starts and has earned $11,400. She circled all but one in her first start at Rideau Carleton Raceway and won going away in 2:04.2 on a track rated five seconds slow. Moore of Osgoode also owns the fillyās dam, Maplelea, and trained her for her whole career.
Woodbine Mohawk Park continues action on Friday, Dec. 29 at 7:10 p.m. EST.
