Georgian Downs hosted two freshman Prospect Series harness racing contests on Tuesday (Jul. 24), with leg 2A for colt trotters and leg two for fillies of the same gait.
Chaud Holliday (Lookslikeachpndale, Ryan Holliday) captured the filly division, vaulting out of the pocket around the final turn to a two-and-three-quarter-length victory in 2:04.1. The Blondy (Colin Kelly) closed for place. Graceful China (Jason Ryan) finished third after leading into the final turn.
CHAUD HOLLIDAY REPLAY
It was a maiden-breaking win for Chaud Holliday, who debuted in the Grassroots on Jul. 17 but broke at the start. She is the fifth foal and second winner from the Cantab Hall mare Chaleur Hanover. David Holliday trains the filly, a homebred for Carole Holliday of Mount Forest who co-owns her with Paul Rutherford of Listowel.
Eiffel Power (My Mvp, Samuel Fillion) emerged victorious from a blanket finish. The colt charged to the finish in a line of three with the surging Boyden (Paul Walker) and pacesetter Expidition Pass (Reg Gassien) and got his nose in front under the wire to take the win in 2:03.2. Boyden was second with Expidition Pass a game third.
EIFFEL POWER REPLAY
Eiffel Powerās win was his first in three tries. He finished third in the opening leg last time out. The freshman is out of French Doll (Donerail), who has now produced five winners from seven starters and 12 eligible foals. Blake Macintosh trains the colt, a $23,000 Ontario Select sale buy, for Glenn Dyke of Townsend.
Leg 2B of the Prospect Series for freshman trotting colts is set for Aug. 6 at Clinton Raceway. The fillies will continue their campaign with leg 3A on the same card.
Georgian Downsās next program will kick off at 7:15 p.m. EDT on Saturday, Jul. 29.
