A strong field of nine two-year-old harness racing pacing colts and fillies will battle it out at the Hippodrome 3R on Sunday (Sept. 24) in a $6,000 feature race.
The 2nd race is headlined by Boomboom Tonight (Sportswriter) who starts from the far outside post eight for driver Marc Belanger and owner-trainer-breeder Elisabeth Pothier of St-Christophe-DāArthabask of Quebec.
Boomboom Tonight enters the main event on a three-race winning streak. His last start was his lifetime best at the right time as he led from start to finish in the $55,000 Quebec Championship Final in 1:58, a lifetime mark. He has won four of his six lifetime starts.
Making her debut at H3R from post seven is Ontario invader Sweet Molly (Sweet Lou) from post seven for driver Francis Picard. Sweet Molly has two wins this year, the fastest a 1:58 mark taken at Grand River Raceway.
Trained by Jacques Dupont for the Ecurie CSL, Sweet Molly had been second in her last two starts, timed in 1:57.4 and 1:57.
Shes Rock (Hes Watching) is another Quebec Champion in the race from post six for driver Robert Shepherd and trainer Isabelle Darveau. She was able to come from off the pace in winning her $55,000 Championship final last start at odds of 14-1 for her maiden win in 2:02.1. She is owned by Bruce Tremblay of Shipshaw, Quebec.
Other contenders in the field include Ronda Du Lac (post 5), Lyons Shine On (post 9) and D Gs Lorijeanne (post 1).

A reminder that there are two new $60,000 stakes races, the Brian Paquet Memorials that will be held on Sunday, October 1.
Both memorials are for three-year-old and older pacers, one division for the horses and one division for the fillies and mares. Preference will be given to Quebec-bred horses, then Quebec-owned horses and then it becomes Open to any horses from Canada or the USA. Each division will feature just eight starters.
Also on that afternoon card will be the $30,000 Lucien Bombardier Pace for two-year-old fillies.
The entry box for the Oct. 1 card closes Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 11:00 am. The race office can be reached to enter horses or answer questions about the new stakes races by calling 819-374-6734 ext. 203.
