SUMMERSIDE, PE – A trio of events for rookie harness racing pacing fillies highlights the Wednesday evening (Jul. 13) card as the Atlantic Sires Stake season gets underway during Governor’s Plate Week at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.

The nine-dash program starts off at 6:30 P.M. with a pair of $16,640 Atlantic Sires Stakes A-divisions for two-year-old pacing fillies in races 3 and 7 and a $3,000 B-division of the Sire Stakes for freshmen fillies in race 5.

Rosetown Mary (Pang Shui) will look to start her career off with a win in race 3 as trainer Corey MacPherson enters the filly in an A-division after a 2:00.3 qualifying win. MacPherson drives the filly for his wife Lisa MacPherson along with co-owners Kerry and Emily Taylor of Stratford.

Other entries include Lookoveryour (Stonebridge Terror, Marc Campbell), Royoz Allie (Stonebridge Terror, Ken Murphy), Elm Grove Redwine (Stonebridge Terror, David Dowling), Howmac Julia (Source Of Pride, Jason Hughes) and Woodmere Heather M (Malicious, Brodie MacPhee).

The Backstretch Beat puts Rosetown Mary squarely on top of the triactor.

“Rosetown Mary is the first foal out of former Open Mares champion Brodys Leona and she looks like the real deal. Comes off a very nice qualifier and will go off as the favourite in here and for good reason.”

The second $16,640 Atlantic Sires Stakes A-division in race 7 will see JJ Amelia (Tobago Cays) put her undefeated record to the test from post 5.

The filly was a winner in the lone start of her career for driver Mark Bradley, trainer Earl Smith and owners Jamie MacKinley of Cornwall and James Perrot of Stratford. The field also includes Entitled Express (Stonebridge Terror, Campbell), Gday Mate (Arthur Blue Chip, Dale Spence), Itsuptoyou (, MacPherson), Redland Misspretty (Source Of Pride, Gilles Barrieau) and Woodmere Jade (Rollwithitharry, Myles Heffernan Sr.).

The finale on the night is the Gentleman Jim’s Restaurant Pace in Memory of Cam Cameron. Divide (A Rocknroll Dance) is the top choice from post 5 in the $1,850 dash for trainer-driver Danny Gillis. Other top entries include Howmac Blaze (Articulator, MacPherson) and The Lady Sheriff (Southwind Lynx, Campbell).
