Hollywood Deo (Captaintreacherous) won by a nose for the second straight week to remain perfect in his harness racing career on Saturday (Dec. 28) at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
The $310,000 yearling purchase, who debuted at three earlier this month, got away fourth from the inside post with Steelwheel Hanover (Brett MacDonald) driving on to lead at the quarter in :28.4. Scott Young summoned Hollywood Deo from the pylons on the backstretch, putting him in play first-over approaching the half in :58.
Hollywood Deo quickly reached the leaderās wheel and pulled level at three-quarters in 1:25.4, vaulting by on the final turn. He sprinted to the front at the top of the stretch but began to lose steam at the eighth-pole with Purely Wicked (Jonathan Drury) closing in. The latter made a late surge, but Hollywood Deo reached the wire just in time to nose out his rival for the 1:55.3 victory.
Betterdealmein (Travis Cullen) closed for third.
HOLLYWOOD DEO REPLAY
Hollywood Deo is undefeated in three career starts for trainer Robert Young. The high-priced yearling sale buy was acquired by Frank Chiaravalloti and Colonel Schneider Jr. earlier this year. He has earned $26,500.
Woodbine Mohawk Park will host its final card of 2024 on Monday, Dec. 30. First post is set for 7:10 p.m. EST.
