Unpolished (Musclesprinctonian) is finally vindicating Joseph Squires and Crazy Parrot Farms’s decision to purchase her in December.
The four-year-old harness racing mare has gone on a four-race winning streak, including a conditioned co-feature at Grand River Raceway on Wednesday (Jun. 22).
She was lightning-quick at the start in that contest and easily secured the front-end as the field of seven entered the first turn. She cut :28.3, :59, and 1:28.2 fractions in line to J. Bradley Harris before 1/5 favourite Thomas P Two (Wayne Henry) popped the pocket entering the final turn.
Thomas P Two, coming off a lifetime-best win, grinded away down the stretch, but Unpolished survived and proved a neck too good in a 1:58.3 victory. Headline Maker (Austin Sorrie) finished third.
UNPOLISHED REPLAY
Unpolished missed the board in her first five starts for the new owners, who bought her in Dec. 2021 but sent her out first in March. She signalled a form reversal with a third-place finish on May 24 and then kicked off her four consecutive wins at Flamboro Downs on May 28. Squires trains the mare, who is now nine-for-31 lifetime with $45,015 in earnings.
The Grand River Raceway schedule continues on Wednesday, Jun. 29 at 6:30 p.m. EDT.
