He missed by a nose last time, but Warrawee Xalt (Royalty For Life) got his in front in the harness racing Preferred-Handicap Trot on Thursday (Jul. 11) at Rideau Carleton Raceway.
Sitting the pocket for Ryan Guy, Warrawee Xalt waited for the passing lane to go after leader Black Tie Bash (Robert Shepherd), who making his return to Rideau after nine months. Black Tie Bash battled to the line, and Emma Town Bud (Pierre Bovay) flew off cover to join them in a three-across finish, but Warrawee Xalt got his nose in front to win in 1:56. Black Tie Bash held on for second with Emma Town Bud missing by a neck in third.
WARRAWEE XALT REPLAY
It was Warrawee Xaltās fourth win of the season and second in the Rideau Preferred. Patrick Dillon trains the gelding and co-owns him with Patti Hoskin. The five-year-old has won 17 times and has banked $243,080 in 66 career starts.
The cardās two-year-old winners were Arson Seelster (Sportswriter, Guy Gagnon, 1:59.1) and Jenny Longlegs (Big Jim, Gagnon, 1:59.1).
