Warrawee Xalt (Royalty For Life) snagged his ninth win of the harness racing season as he capitalized on a pocket trip in the Preferred-Handicap Trot at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Thursday (Oct. 31).
Ryan Guy, in one of his three wins on the day, dropped the favoured gelding in behind Duke Lavictoire (Marie-Claude Auger), where he remained through :26.2, :56.2, and 1:24.2 fractions. Warrawee Xalt began his charge as the field straightened for home, and he battled past Duke Lavictoire in mid-stretch, then held on over a surging Kenogami Coco (Robert Shepherd) for the 1:57 victory. Kenogami Coco was a head short in second. Ripped And Ready (Jimmy Gagnon) completed the triactor.
WARRAWEE XALT REPLAY
Warrawee Xalt has racked up 22 victories and $278,380 in career earnings from 77 starts. Patrick Dillon trains the five-year-old Rideau Preferred regular and co-owns him with Patti Hoskin.
Trainer Mandy Archer sent out three winners on the day, teaming up with Guy Gagnon for the triple. Among them was D A Magic Mike (Mcwicked), whose four-and-a-quarter-length victory made it four straight since moving to the Ottawa area for new connections. Her other tallies came with Dinner Party (American Ideal, 1:54.2) and Meadowbranch Noble (Explosive Matter, 1:57.4).
Guy tied Gagnon for the most driving wins on the evening.
