Up next in the Where Are They Bow series is Reys N A Rocket (Mattarocket) and anyone from Manitoba will recognize the harness racing name.
The now 9-year-old mare was bred by Richard and Janet Rey of St. Claude, MB. Richard Rey was also her trainer, and she was only driven by Michel Rey during her brief time in her home province. She debuted in 2016 as a two-year-old and finished her rookie year off by winning the MSSBA Kindergarten Stakes.
Things started to heat up for her during her three-year-old year as she won five of her seven starts and never finished worse than second during the Manitoba fair season. Not only was she winning but she was winning the biggest races in Manitoba. She collected the Lady Crocus, Manitoba Futurity, Silk Lace and Manitoba Great Western. She earned a jewel for her crown from four of the five major stake races in Manitoba and the last race she was not eligible for since it’s for colts and geldings only.
Before the end of 2017, she went to trainer Richard Moreau and Reys N A Rocketās winning ways continued after she moved to southern Ontario. She won her first race at Flamboro Downs in the time of 1:54.2. Her next start was at Mohawk Raceway, and it was less than an ideal finish her first time being on a larger track. However, she bounced back in her next start at Western Fair Raceway with a win on a more comfortable half-mile track. It didnāt take her too long to find success on the larger track as she won at Woodbine Racetrack in March of 2018.
She continued to predominantly race in southern Ontario over the next five years bouncing around several different tracks. Reys N A Rocket also bounced around a few different trainers during her racing career. After her time with Richard Moreau, she spent time with, Patrick Shepherd, Nick Gallucci, Robert Bernicky, Victor Pudd, and Gerard Demers and now is back with Moreau. Sheās still been finding a way to get the job done and has had a hot start to 2023. In her first four starts, she only has one win but hasnāt finished outside the top three.
Her lifetime win total sit currently sits at 47 and she has earned $290,047. Reys N A Rocket has made 192 career starts and she has the lifetime mark of 1:52.2 which she achieved at Woodbine Mohawk Park. She is scheduled to make her next start on February 2nd during the ninth race at Woodbine Mohawk Park. She got the lucky inside post position and will have Louis-Philippe Roy in the bike.
