Whichwaytothebeach (Somebeachsomewhere) captured the $32,000 Preferred-2 at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Saturday (Jun. 29) in an 8-1 harness racing upset.
Sylvain Filion fired the gelding off the wings and got him to the front, crossing over Saulsbrook Victor (Brett MacDonald) before allowing him to take point nearing the quarter in :27.1. Whichwaytothebeach remained in the pocket through middle panels of :55.4 and 1:24, tipping out at the head of the lane to attack the leader.
Saulsbrook Victor withstood the advance into mid-stretch, but Whichwaytothebeach muscled past and drew clear by two-and-a-quarter lengths for the 1:50.1 victory.
Saulsbrook Victor was second-best. Write Me A Rose (Jody Jamieson) passed horses in the final quarter for third.
