Windemere Best Man (Malicious) pulled out a crushing performance in the top harness racing dash at Inverness Raceway on Wednesday (Jul. 12).
In line to Rodney Gillis, the gelding put up :29.1 and :58.4 first-half fractions. The first-over favourite Custards Dungeon (Zachary Mullins) broke while advancing, giving Windemere Best Man free rein. The gelding soared away to a five-length lead at three-quarters in 1:28.1 and ran up the score to seven-and-a-quarter by the finish, stopping the clock in 1:58.1. Jj Scarlet (Donald Gillis) was second, just ahead of the closing Eastcoast Hanover (Monica Sutherland).

It was the third win of the season in eight tries at the top level of Inverness for Windemere Best Man. The gelding is now 13-for-63 lifetime with $29,723 in earnings. Lanny Hanscombe trains the five-year-old for Simon Poirier and Chad Macdonnell of Inverness.
Inverness Raceway is set to continue action on Sunday, Jul. 16.
