CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Windemere Skye was letting perfection reign in track and Atlantic Record fashion Saturday afternoon at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

WINDEMERE SKY REPLAY

The Lady Slipper Stakes for two-year-old pacing fillies was part of the afternoon presentation as a $32,400 Gold Division had Windemere Skye ($2.10) improve her lifetime record to 10-for-10 in line to Adam Merner in a new track record for two-year-old pacing fillies in 1:54.2. The Somewhere Fancy lass erased the 1:54.4 Red Shores Charlottetown track record set by Fitness First this Summer as well as lowered the overall Atlantic Canadian record co-held by Fitness First and 2022 Truro Raceway Track Record holder Redlandbethanyjean. Merner had the Earl Watts trainee confidently rated on the engine to hold off Serenity Now (Driven by Jason Hughes) and Hatchling (Marc Campbell) for owners Windemere Farms and Matt Burke.

The other $32,400 Gold division was a 1:57 conquest by Fitness First ($6.30) and trainer-driver Corey MacPherson for owner Jim Gorman of South Melville. Beach Jewels (Marc Campbell) and Lila Berry (Mike McGuigan) completed the triactor.

Driver Ken Murphy swept the Grassroots for two-year-old pacing fillies as EA Money Maker ($2.70) won her Lady Slipper assignment in 1:57.1 for trainer Saul Lanigan, while the other division went to Saulsbrook Carly ($7.00) with Murphy for trainer Joe Baxter.

The Joe O’Brien Memorial for two-year-old pacing colts carried $28,600 in a pair of Gold divisions.

The Ultimate Stable’s Zero Two Sixty ($2.50) looked every bit the part, cutting it all in 1:57.1 for driver Gilles Barrieau to hold off Streakantonio (David Dowling) and Woodmere Kobe (Kenny Arsenault). Sifroi Melanson trains the son of Tobago Cays.

The other Gold split had Cattlewash colt Disko Bay ($2.10) giving owner Nikway Farms a marquee score in line to trainer Paul Langille for a 1:55.2 decision over Sporty Anthony (Murphy) with Windemere Barkley (Marc Campbell) third.

The program opened with a $14,300 Joe O’Brien Memorial Grassroots tilt for two-year-old colts and Real Fancy Pants ($5.60) made every call a winning one in 1:59.2 for driver Jason Hughes and trainer Ashley Gamester to kick off a large day for owner Donald MacRae of Vernon Bridge. Hughes, Gamester and MacRae won the other Grassroots O’Brien with Goose Commander ($13.90) in 1:57.2.

The first Lady Slipper trotting trophy of the day belonged to the three-year-old trotting fillies, and it was Supreme Rockette who answered the bell in the $19,950 contest. Gilles Barrieau put the E L Rocket filly on the point and never looked back, trotting in 2:00.1 for trainer McGuigan and owner Jamie Whalen.

Sophomore trotters returned in race 4 and the $19,950 Lady Slipper colt split saw Bless Me Father deliver like a heavy favourite, wiring the field in a sparkling 1:56.2 for Marc Campbell and owner-conditioner Donna Van Meer. The mile rewrote Southwind Arturo’s 1:57.1 Charlottetown track record for three-year-old trotters and lowered the overall Atlantic Canadian Standard co-held by Southwind Arturo along with Bless Me Father earlier this season at Red Shores Summerside.

Rookie trotting colts then lined up in a $20,820 Lady Slipper division and the streak rolled on for Little Louis ($2.70) who made it eight straight for trainer Kuri White and driver Corey MacPherson, front-stepping in 2:02 for owner East Coast Captains.

The $20,820 Lady Slipper for two-year-old trotting fillies had Roseys El Girl ($11.30) and driver Murphy put a 2:01.3 mark on the board for the William Lanigan barn.

The $5,500 Preferred 1 pace turned into a down-the-lane showcase for Gold Cup and Saucer hero Miki Shan N, who rocketed home in 26.2 to win in 1:51.2 for Corey MacPherson and trainer Chris MacKay. Twin B Tuffenuff (Barrieau) was a strong runner-up with Nothing Bugs Me (Marc Campbell) third. The Cup champion and his connections were greeted in the winner’s circle by 2025 Baseball Canada National Senior Men’s champions Charlottetown Gaudet’s Autobody Islanders.

Live racing continues Sunday afternoon at 1 P.M., at Red Shores Summerside. For more go to Redshores.ca.
