Woodbine’s June Stars of the Month

TORONTO, July 6, 2022 – Woodbine Entertainment today (Jul. 6) announced the Woodbine Stars of the Month for Thoroughbred and harness racing in the month of June.

The Woodbine Stars of the Month recognizes top performers in three categories (Horse, Trainer, Jockey/Driver) for live racing at Woodbine Racetrack and Woodbine Mohawk Park. The “Stars” are selected by the Woodbine Communications Team and consideration for selection is based off statistics, significant wins, notable career accomplishment and milestones.

STANDARDBRED

Horse: Pebble Beach (Somebeachsomewhere)

A dominant victory in the 39^th Pepsi North America Cup earns Pebble Beach the honours for the month of June. The Noel Daley trainee went a perfect three for three at Woodbine Mohawk Park in June, winning a division of the Somebeachsomewhere and the elimination/final of the Pepsi North America Cup.

Trainer: Shawn Steacy

Shawn Steacy’s barn was red-hot in June, posting 12 wins and 23 top-three finishes from 46 starts. Top performers included sophomore pacing filly In The Mood, who captured a $199,900 OSS Gold on June 4, and three-year-old trotting filly Warrawee Xenia, who went a perfect three for three.

Driver: Doug McNair

Doug McNair made 22 trips to the winner’s circle during the month of June. McNair led all Woodbine regular drivers in June by finishing in the top-three in 53% of his drives (68/129).
