Three weeks after his last score, Woodmere Ideal Art went wire-to-wire in the harness racing feature pace at Exhibition Park on Saturday and defeated the last two feature winners in doing so.
Robert Laffin put Woodmere Ideal Art into play from the start as he sent him to the front from post three. The horse thundered through the quarter in :29, half in :57, and three-quarters in 1:26.3 while maintaining a two-length advantage throughout.
Thankyouallmyfans (John Davidson Sr.) gave chase turning for home, but Woodmere Ideal Art sustained his speed and completed the victory in 1:57.2. Thankyouallmyfans was second, and Blood Money (Mitchell Downey) closed for show. The winner paid $10.50.
Woodmere Ideal Artās win was his 22nd lifetime from 80 starts. The six-year-old Articulator gelding has earned more than $80,000 for Ultimate Stable of Greater Lakeburn. Sifroi Melanson trains.
Douglas Beckwith got his first training win of 2020 in the second race with Ebandtheboys (1:59.1) and quickly doubled with Paris Beau (2:01) in the fourth. Beckwith owns both horses.
Exhibition Park will return on Saturday, Jun. 19 at 1:00 p.m. ADT.
