SUMMERSIDE, PE – Taking command from the start, YS Mathis (Sportswriter) was missionized in the Tuesday (June 20) evening Preferred 2 Pace at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway and smashed the track record for aged pacing stallions.
Marc Campbell hustled his trainee off the harness racing starting gate from post 2 in the $3,600 featured pace and laid down fractions of :27.1, :55.1 and 1:23.3 before kicking clear for a three-length victory in 1:52.1, a new track record for aged pacing stallions. It was also just two-fifths off of YS Lotus’ overall track record.
He beat the 1:53 divisional record previously held by both D Gs Camme (2014) and Avatar J (2020).
Brady Doyle of Stratford shares ownership of the pacer with Jacinta Campbell of Charlottetown. Stash It Away (Driven by Corey MacPherson) was second ahead of Navalny (Adam Merner).

Campbell had a driving triple on the evening winning with Baconabiscuit (1:58.4) for trainer Stacey Darrach and Jetster (1:58.1) for Stanley Harper.
Princess Halo won the race 6 Happy Birthday Albert Nash pace in a maiden breaking score of 2:01 for driver Ken Murphy and trainer Garth Cole.
MacPherson made four trips to the winner’s circle to secure the lead in the driving standings at Red Shores Summerside with 13 victories on the season. The Cornwall reinsman won with Melody Maker (1:58.3) from the Greg MacInnis barn, Tobins Future (1:59.3) for Marvyn Webster, Ironside Seelster (1:57.3) for trainer Duane MacEachern and Now Showing (1:56.3) from the Leith Waite barn.
