Gocciadoro sweeps 154,000€ Gran Premio Costa Azzura

Gocciadoro Sweep!!! is a perfect name for the Gran Premio Costa Azzurra (purse 154,000€, 1600 meters autostart) raced this day (April 7) over the 1004-meter course at Ippodromo Vinovo Torino in Italy.

Harness racing trainer-driver Alessandro Gocciadoro started five trotteurs and took places one through three starting with the winner, Banderas Bi (7m Ganymede-Ida Grandi-Toss Out-Miss Baltic) at 18/1 with Antonio Velotti at the lines. Race time was 1.11.8kr for the first three finishers.

Banderas Bi was bred by Az. Agr. Biasuzzi Srl. Second home was 9.3/1 Always EK (8g Filipp Roc-Nike EK-Varenne) with  Gocciadoro driving that came through the passing lane to just miss. Third was 14.9/1 Daughter As (5f Father Patrick-Highland Image-Andover Hall) handled by Pietro Gubellini.

Akela Pal Ferm (8f Maharajah-Remilla de Palle-SJs Photo) was fourth at 10.1/1 odds with Enrico Bellei aboard. The 1.9/1 Capital Mail finished sixth from post one and veteran Vivid Wise As at 3,3/1 was a miscue dq after a perfect pocket second tier journey. He showed no trot. Bleff Dipa closed stoutly from the rear to be seventh.
