Alfa Boy wins 3,000,000Huf Dr. Jozef Vecsekloy Memorial

The classic Dr. Jozef Vecsekloy Memorial (purse 3,000,000Huf, 1800 meters autostart, two heats with race result based on placings) went to 2-1 placed Alfa Boy (6m Racino-Chippychip GY-Defi d’Aunou). Csaba Lakatos teamed the winner for trainer Tibor Hajnal to his 12th career win in 40 starts. He won heat two timed in 1.14.1kr at 5.7/1. Ubu Kiraly (9m Vioxx SR) was second in that heat with Zona (7f Offenbach Bigi) third as the 1.5/1 favorite. Heat one went to 3.4/1 Zona for trainer/driver Emil Csordas timed in 1.15.3kr. This one was second in the total race with her 1-3 placing. In the first heat she defeated Alfa Boy and Bonaparte Boss (5g Napolean) with trainer Veljko Mazsity up.

The co-featured Lovarda Sprinter Kupa (purse 2,000,000Huf, 1800 meters autostart, grade II) went to 1.1/1 odds Digital Races (5m Super Photo Kosmos-Paired-Scarlet Knight) reined by Ferenc Nagy II for Prolongo and trainer Bernadette Balogh. Race time was 1.13.9kr. Last year Unno del Duomo won this event in 1.14.4kr. Second this day was 7.8/1 Il Duce Boko (7m Muscle Hill) with Antun Horvatski aboard that finished ahead of 13.3/1 Zante Font (7f Quaker Jet) handled by Goran Zolnaki.

Dolomit Boy (3m Maximus Lindy-Titan Lady-Ata Star L) took the Gr. I Nemzeti DIJ (purse 2,610,000Huf, 1960 meters distance handicap) timed in 1.17.3kr and teamed with Csaba Lakatos for the Prolongo and Bernadette Balogh team. The winner was off at 2.5/1 and he defeated 10/1 Dusan (3m Rpyal Ripple) and trainer/driver Laszlo Kolozsi. Third was 1.7/1 odds and 40 meter handicapped Charming Boy (4m Zola Boko) for driver Tibor Hajnal. The 2021 edition of this event went to 1.18.8kr timed Csek a szel (Ken Warkentin-Nana) handled by Imre Fazekas.

On the excellent undercard there were several interesting winners. Street Genius (3m Uncle Lasse-Dats Veronica-Credit Winner) took the Frederika DIJ (500,000Huf purse, 1980 meters distance handicap) at 1.8/1 odds timed in 1.19.3kr with Tamas Hegedos up for trainer Bernadette Balogh. The winner traveled 1960 meters. This was his third win in five 2022 outings. In the Erno Galambos Memorial (purse 700,000Huf, 1800 meters autostart) the 1.9/1 Zitti Tutti (7f Napoleon-Isola d’Arno-Coktail Jet) scored in 1.15.0kr with trainer Veljko Mazsity aboard. The Butterfly DIJ (600,000Huf purse, 1900 meters autostart) went to 17.3/1 longshot Premal MS (4g Dream Vacation-Principessa Oui-Love You) tied in 1.15.1kr with Mitja Slavic aboard, he also the trainer. The Effendi Handicap (600,000Huf purse, 1900 meters autostart) saw another outsider score, the 36.7/1 Velence R (6f Exploit Caf-Filigran-Witsends Speedy). She was timed in 1.15.3kr and reined by trainer Balazs Juhasz.
