The 75th Lotteria harness racing day at Napoli Agnano, Italy on Wednesday (May 1) was special and included two Gran Premio Regione Campanio races for fillies and males.
The filly division for 66,000ā¬ was raced over 2100 meters autostart by 12 starters and went to 7.2/1 Elettra dāEsi (3f Nad Al Sheba-Primula dāEsi) timed in 1.12.4kr driven by Marco Stefani for trainer Mauro Baroncini. She went coast to coast for her fifth career victory.
She defeated 13.1/1 Eleonor di Poggio (3f Trixton-Upland Kronos) reined by G.P. Minnucci and third finishing 11.5/1 Ete Jet (3f Maharajah-Love Me Tender-Supergill) with Alex Velotti at the lines.
In the male division also worth 66,000ā¬ purse and raced over 2100 meters autostart, the 9.6/1 Executiv EK (3m Face Time Bourbon-Nike EK-Varenne) scored in 1.11.8kr with Andrea Farolfi up. He also went gate to wire in this 15-horse field and is trained by Alessandro Gocciadoro. He now has nine career wins, Edy Girifalco Gio (3m Victor Gio-Mururoa As) took second for trainer/driver Gocciadoro. EK del Ronco (3m Julius del Ronco) was third at 26/1 odds.
Finally, the Gran Premio Lotteria Consolation (purse 40,040ā¬, 1600 meters autostart, 11 starters) produced another Gocciadoro score this with 3.1/1 Always EK (8m Filipp Roc-Nike EK-Varenne) timed in 1.11.6kr, This was the winnerās 22nd career victory and today it was from post 11 after a miscue dq in the first Lotteria batteria.
The 12.2/1 Fiorano (5m Tiger Woods As-Fiona KO) was second with Roberto Vecchione aboard. Third was 18.3/1 Kennedy (9m Joke Face-Lisa America-Varenne) for driver Gabriele Gelormini. The pace was set by Cosmo Spritz that faded to ninth after pacing pressure in lap two backside.
