Bengurion Jet flies last-to-first to win Sweden Cup

Bengurion Jet (6m Maharajah-Love Me Tender-Supergill) rallied from last and four wide at top of lane to win the Sweden Cup Final (600,000SEK to winner, 1640 meters autostart) for harness racing trainer/driver Alessandro Gocciadoro and Le Siepi Horse Racing Srl.

Off at 2.7/1 he scored in a sizzling 1.09.3kr (mile rate 1:51.5) to secure his 15th career victory now for 5,861,247SEK earned. Callmethebreeze (5m Trixton-Gilly LB-Supergill) was a game second as he advanced from fourth three wide in the final turn for Gabriele Gelormini and trainer/owner Philippe Allaire, off at 11.2/1 odds. Iceland Falls (7f Iceland-Uppsala Kronos-Donato Hanover) set the pace for Magnus S. Djuse at 5.97/1 odds and was a game third for trainer Fredrik Wallin. Axel Ruda (6g Formula One) was fourth for Uld Ohlsson and Four Guys Dream (7g Dream Vacation) took fifth for Stefan Persson. Night Brodde was scratched.

Two races prior Gocciadoro won the STL Stoeliten (purse to winner 220,000SEK, 1640 meters autostart) with 1.10.2kr timed and 2.13/1 odds Zeudi AMG (8f Ideale Luis-Ironica Spin-Ganymede). She recorded career victory 26 in 58 starts now for 2,735,391SEK earned. She defeated 14.6/1 Riet Hazelaar (5f SJs Caviar) with Dexter Dunn piloting the Dion Tesselaar trainee. Filippa BJ (5f Muscle Mass) was third at 22.3/1 for Jorma Kontio.

Undercard races

In the ASVT Trottex Auktion Race for males (200,000SEK to winner, 2140 meters autostart, three year olds) the impressive 1.13.8kr timed winner was 3.4/1 Vasterbo Exciting (3m Jacose-Vasterbo Hot Stuff-Explosive Matter) with trainer Ake Lindblom aboard. The winner recorded his third career win in six starts. King Of Twilight (3m Bold Eagle) was second for Carl Johan Jepson at 2.2/1 and third home was Nehemiah Boko (3m SJs Caviar) reined by Bjorn Goop at 7.8/1.

Domino Time Trot (3f International Moni-The Grand Filly-Muscle Mass) took the ASVT Trottex Auktionslopp Males (purse 100,000SEK to the winner, 2140 meters autostart) timed in 1.15.5kr and off the 2.3/1 favorite. This was her first career win to go with two second place finishes in three starts. Ulf Ohlsson teamed this Reijo Liljendahl trained and owned filly. Pure Harmony (3f Walner-Dana Boko-Infinitif) was second at 4/1 for driver Santtu Raitala and trainer Jerry Riordan. Regress WF (3f Scarlet Knight-Regina CD-Love You) was third at 4.7/1. Scarlet Knight celebrated his 25th birthday this past week. Also Ready Cash (age 18) and Varenne (age 28) had birthday;s the same week…whata group of champions that their progeny carry on.

On the Elitloppet kickoff card was also the Ikoni Service Stolopp (60,000SEK to the winner, 2140 meters autostart) with that victory to the impressive 1.6/1 odds favorite Celiaz (7f Zola Boko-Ofeliaz-Love You) trained by Alessandro Gocciadoro and catch driven by Santti Raitala. Timed in 1.12.3kr Celiaz won for the 16th time in her 29-race career. This was her third 2023 victory in six outings. Isabelle Cash (5f Ready Cash-Xena Brick-Super Arnie) was next at 9.3/1 with Magnus A, Djuse aboard for trainer Timo Nurmos. La Sassicaia (6f Bold Eagle-Conrads Linsan-Malabar Circle As) landed third at 12.7/1 reined by Mats E. Djuse.
