Birba Caf (7f Orlando Vici-Rutilia Caf-Cantab Hall) overcame a 40-meter handicap as the 1.5/1 odds favorite to win the Premio Epunozio di Primavera (purse 12,100€, 2060 meters distance handicap) at Torino.

Timed in 1.11.0kr the Pietro Gubellini teamed winner now has 16 wins for 282,802€ earned for Az Agr. Castelloccio Srl. Ciel Joyeause (6m Nad Al Sheba-Cristy di Cesei) was five lengths back second at 10/1 odds with Andrea Guzzinato driving. Begravia (7f Lebeccio Grif-Marias) was third at 22.9/1 with Simone Mollo aboard. Coltwine di Casei led the winner into the lane and went off-stride in the head-to-head battle.

In Sweden at Aby was the Privab (purse 12,394€ to winner, 2140 meters) and the 1.3/1 odds favorite Onas Prince (7m Chocolatier-Sobra-Pine Chip) reined by trainer Per Nordstrom and timed in 1.12.0kr. Kagan (6g Scarlet Knight-Lima Midnite Magic) was second for Robert Bergh at 3.9/1 with 22/1 Staro Leonardo (10g Make It Happen) third for trainer/driver Joakim Lovgren.

On other matters, the Elitloppet probable Go On Boy is now questionable due to a doping charge in France levied against trainer Romain Derieux with Kandia Quick at Marseille in November. In the May 5 Finlandia Ajo the race invitees now include Hail Mary, Stoletheshow and Vivid Wise As.
