Roberto Vecchione teamed the 21-time winner of over 138,000€ earned. Vaprio (10m Adrian Chip-Mamibia-Cantab Hall) was second for Rene Legati driving at 11.6/1 odds. Caronte Trebi’ (6m Nad Al Sheba) was third at 5.4/1 for Pietro Gubellini with 17.1/1 Dilva Jet (5f Maharajah) fourth.
Earlier at Napoli Agnano (April 22) the Premio Fioni di Primavera (purse 14,300€, 2060 meters volte start) went to 7.1/1 Crak di Girifalco (6m Andover Hall-Fitzgerald Bi-SJs Photo) reined by Vincenzo Luongo to a front-end journey. The 20-meter handicapped and 1.8/1 favorite Domingo Bar (5m Varenne-Tallest-Love You) was second for trainer/driver Alessandro Gocciadoro. Third was 10/1 odds and 20-meter handicapped Cervanbtonpridegar (6m Varenne-Galaxy Brown-Sugarcane Hanover). Race time was 1.13.1kr.
At Padova (April 21) the Grand Premio Elwood Medium Memorial (purse 37,400€, 1640 meters autostart) went to the 1.9./1 odds favorite Frankie LJ (3m Readly Express-Si’toile del Rio-Love You) reined by trainer Alessandro Gocciadoro and timed in 1.13.4kr. Fabio Bi (3m Manofmanymissions-Rouge Bi-Varenne) was second driven by Mauro Biasuzzi and 20.9/1 odds Falerno Play (3m Cokstile-Zenobia Font-Ganymede) was third for pilot V.P. Dell’Annuniziata.
Ahead in Italy on May 1 is the 75th edition of the Gr. I Gran Premio Lotteria Agnano that will have three eliminations and the final. Each will be raced over 1600 meters for 25,300€. The finale will have a 660,000€ purse and a consolation will be on the menu for a purse of 40,040€.
A competitive fast field will be on hand that includes Vernissage Grif, Bleff Dipa, Cosmo Spritz, Daughter As and Capital Mail plus Sweden’s Night Brodde and the French trotteurs Gigolo Lover and Elie de Beaufour.
