Cleangame (9g Ouragon de Celland-Red Bell) swept to the lead with a lap remaining and prevailed to win the Gr.II International 44th Grand Prix du Sud-Ouest (purse 150,000€, 2400 meters autostart) at Beaumont de Lomagne in France.
Trainer Jean Michel Bazire teamed Cleangame to his fourth straight victory in five starts during his comeback where he was off from September 5, 2020 until August 11., 2021. J.P. Bragato owns the now 40 time winner for 1,614,670€ earned. He was off as the 1/10 odds favorite.
Stablemate and 15/1 Rebella Matters (6f Explosive Matter-Mystical News) rallied to be second with Christophe Martens handling the JMB trainee. Third was 9/1 Ce Bello Romain (9g Jam Pridem-Miss Echo Bella) with Anthony Barrier up for owner/trainer S.G. DuPont.
Later this week at Le Capelle is the 12th leg of the GNT Paris-Turf series (Gr. III, purse 85,000€, 2750 meters distance handicap). This series and its full fields produce top flight action.
