Today’s Paris-Vincennes Amerique Weekend began with the Coupe Intercontinental des Amateurs (purse 15,000€, 2100 meters autostart, 13 starters) and the victory was earned by 11/1 odds Fergie Highland (9f Mage de la Merite-Oh My Star) with Belgium’s Martin Andersen at the lines for trainer Bruno Chandrat.
The winner rallied mid-stretch and had more power to defeat 1.4/1 favorite Hanugan (7m Un Mec d’Heripre) driven by Hanna Lahdekorpi for trainer Stephane Dupuis. There were four miscue dq’s that included the US entry handled by Joe Faraldo of the SOANY and the USTA.
