The well-regarded 4/10 odds favorite Destiny di Poggio (5f Bold Eagle-Sand Grenade) took the Prix de Nanterre (purse 46,000€, 2150 meters autostart, 16 European starters ages 5-6 years) at Hippodrome d’Enghien-Soisy.
Christophe Martens teamed this Jean-Michel Bazire trainee for Scuderia Mistero Srl that was clocked in 1.12.9kr. She now has three wins in 15 starts in France for 81,960€ earned. The 10/1 Damaris Grif (5f Mack Grace SM-Ninotchka Dany) was second for driver Marco Stefani, trainer Mauro Baroncini and owner Antonio Favilla. Third was 29/1 Jussy de Paumar (5f Village Mystic-USA Vulcanize) many lengths back with Mathieu Mottier driving the Andrea Guzzinati trainee.
On the undercard the even-money favorite Charles OP (6m Mack Grace SM-Iarama As) won the Prix de Bagnolet (monte, purse 36,000€, 2875 meters, 12 European starters age six) timed in 1.14.7kr with Eric Raffin the jockey. This open lengths winner is also trainer by Jean Michel Bazire, and he won for the first time in France advancing his career earnings to 72,271€. Yannick Desmet owns this one.
Lastly, in the Prix de L’Alene d’Or (purse 40,000€, 2150 meters autostart, 11 starters all three-year old females) the 27/1 odds Lolita Turgot (3f Un Mec d’Heripre-Chinatown Turgot) scored in 1.17.2kr for trainer/driver Tony Le Beller for owner Ecurie J.P.R. Vilault. This was Lolita T’s first career win and she now has 27,795€ earned. She easily defeated previously unbeaten Lolita Bourbon (3f Orlando Vici-Scala Bourbon) that J.Ph. Monclin trains and drove for Yvette Engelke. This one has a great maternal family going back through Etta Extra.
This day it was also revealed that Emeraude de Bais, second in the Grand Criterium de Vitesse, was invited to the Patralympiatravet. Hopefully that might lead to an Elitloppet invitation. Idao de Tillard was presented earlier with an Elite Race ticket.
In Australia this Past weekend the former Philippe Allaire trainee and owned, Callmethebreeze (6m Trixton-Gilly LB-Supergill) scored in 1:53.3 in the Hammerhead Mile. This was his third win in five starts in AUS. He won 869,000€ in Europe with a speed record of 1.09.9. His exemplary pedigree might indicate a solid racing and breeding career for Yabby Dam Stud.
