Eden Basque wins Grand Prix de Vincennes

The Nicolas Ensch harness racing trainee Eden Basque (10g Singalo-Janga) overcame a 25 meter handicap to win the Cagnes sir Mer featured Grand Prix de Vincennes (Gr. II European, purse 80,000€, 2925 meters distance handicap, 14 starters ages 7-11).

Guillaume Lemoine teamed the now 16-time career winner in 98 starts for 523,690€ earned. The Ecurie Castagniccia owned campaigner rallied four wide in the lane to secure the victory timed in 1.14.3kr and off at 45/1 odds. Guevara du Pont (8m Tabler-Tina du Pont) held second at 4.6/1 with David Bekaert aboard for Ecurie J.P. Bragato and trainer Yannick Henry. The 1.9/1 favorite Gredo Bello (8g Un Mec d’Heripre) was third with J.Ch. Feron teaming the J.P. Marmion owned and trainer trotteur. Gaotcho Jiel at 3/1 and Fee Lucernuse at 36/1 completed the top five finishers.

On the undercard the 4.5/1 Lord Ellington (3m Follow You-Vive Majyc) won his second straight scoring in the Prix des Violettes (purse 24,000€, 2150 meters autostart, eight three year old starters). Louis Baudron reined his owned/bred/trained colt that now has earned 18,860€, from two wins in five starts lifetime. Second was 9/1 odds Luciano Star (3g Feliciano) handled by Laurent Fresneau for Y-A Briand. Third to the line was 3.4/1 Laps Gede (3m Alto de Viette) for driver Romain Le Creps and owner/trainer Alexandre Pillon.

Action this weekend returns to Paris-Vincennes for Sunday’s monte Gr. I Prix de L’ile-de-France for a purse of 200,000€. 11 starters ages 4-11 will contest this one over 2175 meters. The lineup follows showing horse, age/sex and trainer.  The well-performing Thierry Duvaldestin barn sends out Flame du Goutier a 17-time career winner for earnings of 1,636,955€. Ecurie Saint Martin owns this exceptional nine-year old daughter of Ready Cash.
