Emeraude de Bais wins 200,000€ GP du Sud Ouest

Today’s 47th edition of the Grand Prix du Sud Quest Paris-Turf (Gr. II International, purse 200,000€, 11 starters ages 4-11, 2575 meters) saw 6.9/1 odds Emeraude de Bais (10f Repeat Love-Haute Tension) rally to harness racing victory from post seven with Franck Nivard aboard.

The Benjamin Goetz trainee is owned by Herve Carlus and she now has earned 1,016,560€ from 21 career victories in 108 starts.

She was timed today in 1.12.0kr. Elvis du Vallon (10m Reve de Beylev-Premiere de Beylev) was 55/1 odds second with J. Ph. Monclin driving the Charles Cuiller trainee for Union Stable. Just Love You (3f Love You-Just In Love) held third at 4.2/1 odds driven by Alexandre Abrivard for trainer L.C. Abrivard and breeder/owner Michele Bliard.

The 1.5/1 odds favorite Hooker Berry (7m Booster Winner-Osaka Berry) rallied for fourth, five lengths behind the winner driven by Nicolas Bazire for breeder/owner Michel Aldenise and trainer Jean Michel Bazire.

Just A Gogolo (5m Boccador de Simm) was fifth as second choice 2.5/1 odds handled by Benjamin Rochard for breeder/owner/trainer Philippe Allaire. Hanna des Molles, Joyner Sport, Fine Perle of Love and Etonnant finished sixth through ninth. Etonnant raced alongside the leader until he rapidly gave way entering the stretch. This champion has last raced on October 12, 2023.

On the undercard was the Prix de la Ville de Passage (monte, 12 European starters, purse 35,000€, 2625 meters distance handicap) where 6/10 odds Ninepoints Lasse (6g Uncle Lasse-Ninepoints Lucy-Spotlite Lobell) scored in 1.13.0kr with jockey Alexandre Abrivard in the irons for Jorgen Westholm and owner Bengt Johansson.

The winner 1s four for eleven in FR and has earnings of 151,372€. Imagine d’Atout (6f Django Riff) was second at 2.9/1 odds, overcoming a 25 meter handicap, with Guillaume Martin aboard for Marc Sassier. Third was 8/1 odds, and also 25 meter handicapped, Hermes Angel (7g Repeat Love) ridden by Nathalie Henry.

Ecurie du Damier owns this five time career winner for 125,610€.  Karaka Wood (4f Fabulous Wood-Flo Wood) rallied from ninth at the halfway to capture second at 7.1/1 odds with Manuel Criado handling the Dariusz Czerwinski trainee for Ecurie des Mouettes.
