The third leg of the Trophee Vert series was Sunday’s Grand Prix Peugeot Gemy (purse 48,000€, 3200 meters distance handicap, 6-10 year olds with 21,600€ to the winner) at Vannes raced before a large audience in the pouring rain.
The 21/1 odds and 50 meter handicapped Enzo d’Essarts (9g Royal Dream-Quolia de Feligeres) rallied to victory with trainer Rudolphe Lagadeuc at the lines for Ecurie d’Essarts. This was his 13th career win now for 331,490€ earned. Race time was 1.25.9kr over the heavy turf.
El Capitano (9g Rocklyn) was second at 33/1 overcoming his 25 meter penalty with Morgane Blot driving. Fakir de :’Aulne (8g Real de Lou) was home third at 18/1 handled by Mickael Barre. Galet Sted (7g Paris Haufor) was fourth for Anthony Barrier as the 2.4/1 favorite and fifth was Fee de Ranchval (8f Opium) for Jean Luc Giot, this pair handicapped 25 and 50 meters respectively.
The next and fourth Trophee Vert event is set for May 14 at Rambouillet. The leading points earned in the series to date are Galet Sted with 17 followed by Enzo d’Essarts at 15 tied with Hotline de Carsi.
