LeTROT reports that six days after his success in the Critérium de Vitesse de la Côte d’Azur in Cagnes-sur-Mer, Etonnant has officially received its invitation card for the Elitloppet 2022. On the last Sunday of May, he will try more than ever to follow in the footsteps of his father’s championship, Timoko, who is twice on the list of the biggest Scandinavian event.

When he decided to race Etonnant in the Critérium de Vitesse de la Côte d’Azur (Group I) on March 13 (review the race), Richard Westerink, his trainer, had an idea in mind: “We were there to get an invitation to the Elitloppet. I wanted to see if, behind the car, he was going to behave well but it’s in the plans.” Mission fulfilled beyond the victory since the invitation card was soon issued to him, the second after the one awarded by the Swedish organizers to the title holder Don Fanucci Zet a few weeks earlier.
The biggest Scandinavian event holds a special place in the heart of the Dutch professional based in the Landes. This is the race he dreamed of winning when, when he was young, he started in the business. This dream first came true when, on May 25, 2014, Timoko, his champion, won the final after having already shown himself the strongest during his drums a year after a first experience that had seen him finish in third place in the final. Three years later, Timoko wrote a new page of his legend by winning the Elitloppet for the second time, still associated with another legend, local this one, Björn Goop, by winning the new race record in the mileage reduction of 1’09”.
On May 29 for his first experience on the Solvalla track, Etonnant, Timoko’s best product, will try to join his illustrious father in the Elitloppet rankings.
