Etonnant (9m Timoko-Migraine) gamely won today’s (April 22) Gr. I Prix de L’Atlantique (purse 200,000€, 2150 meters autostart, 13 starters) at Enghien-Soisy in France, clocked in 1.11.0kr.
Off as the 1.1/1 odds harness racing favorite Etonnant and driver Anthony (Tony) Barrier left from post eight, took back and then moved forward on the outer, eventually gaining the lead from then leading Hohneck past the halfway mark.
From there the Richard Westerink trained and owned stallion was on top holding on for a diminishing length score over 17/1 Go On Boy (7m Password-Balginette) that raced with shoes on for trainer/driver Romain Derieux and owner Caroline Logier. He left from post 13 in the second row.
The 3.8/1 Hohneck (6m Royal Dream-Caranca) led to the half for driver Gabriele Gelormini and trainer Philippe Allaire and finished third ahead of 9/1 Horsy Dream (6m Scipion du Goutier-Bonanza du Closet) reined by Eric Raffin for trainer Pierre Belloche that also raced with shoes on. Elvis du Vallon at 106/1, Gently de Muze at 9/1 odds and 144/1 Fric du Chene completed the top seven.
Etonnant recorded his 23rd career victory now for 2,286,925€ earned. This Christian Guy Vigier bred performer has accepted an Elitloppet invitation along with Horsy Dream.
