Tuesday’s Prix de Poitiers (purse 75,000€, 2700 meters for 8-10 year olds) at Vincennes went to the even-money favorite Evariste du Bourg (8g Jasmin de Flore-Saratoga du Bourg) handled by Eric Raffin.
The 1.12.9kr timed winner is trained by J.M. Raubaud for Ecurie H&P Pilarski. This was the winner’s 25th career victory now for 375,140€ earned.
The 7.8/1 odds Douceur du Chene (9f Quif de Villeneuve) was second with Franck Nivard her pilot for trainer Julien Le Mer and breeder/owner Claude Guedj. The 22/1 outsider Dreamer de Chenu (9f Timoko) took third for Louis Baudouin.
After the last “B” race, the sprinter distance Prix de Bourgogne, there are nine Prix d’Amerique invites with the Belgique ahead on January 16 and the 700,000€ purse monte Prix de Cornulier on January 23. The top three from Belgique and the Cornulier winner will earn an Amerique invite.
They will join Cokstile, Vivid Wise As, Billie de Montfort, Etonnant, Face Time Bourbon, Rebella Matters, Ganay de Banville, Hohneck and Galius in the 1,000,000€ purse Prix de Amerique on January 30. That card will also include two Gr. I tests, each for a 300,000€ purse, the World Cup for four year olds and the World Cup for five year olds.
Among the recent invitees were Cokstile and Billie de Montfort, both great gaited long time European top-level performers.
