Earlier this week the likely 2022 Prix d’Amerique favorite, Face Time Bourbon ,was withdrawn from the race and subsequently retired due to an injury during an early week training session.
The 2015 son of Ready Cash-Vita Bourbon won the last two Prix d’Amerique editions and recorded 35 victories and six seconds from 43 career starts. His life earnings are 3,392,880€.
A breeding Face Time Bourbon share (one of 90) sold today for 170,000€ to SAS Espace Trot at the Arqana Trot Prix d’Amerique Sale, held again this year at Deauville. Face Time Bourbon raced without shoes after January 2019 in France and his race record is 1.09.1kr.
Face Time Bourbon’s on track performance compares favorably with the recent top performers in France. His catalog page is shown below. Bold Eagle (2011 by Ready Cash-Reethi Rah Jet) earned 5,124,087€ from 47 wins in 85 career starts to go with 10 seconds and two thirds. His race record was 1.08.9kr and he raced from December 2014 forward without front shoes in most starts. A Bold Eagle share sold today for 35,000€ with SAS Espace Trot the buyer.
Their sire Ready Cash (2005 by Indy de Vive-Kidea) earned 4,282,300€ with a 40-8-3 slate in 70 starts and a 1.10.3kr record. He too raced without front shoes during his career after September, 2010. These three and the retired Timoko (2007 by Imoko-Kiss Me Coulonces) are the best racing France stallions I have seen in the last 15 years.
Timoko won 5,011,851€ with a 36-15-13 slate in 100 starts and a record of 1.09.1kr taken in his last start. He raced 59 times without shoes and 11 times without front shoes. He was a tough competitor as were the other rivals.
