The Marseille-Borely Racetrack in France hosted this day (March 29) the second harness racing leg of the Grand National du Trot (Gr. III, purse 90,000€, 3000 meters distance handicap for national 5–10-year-olds).
The 1.1/1 favorite Gaspar d’Angis (7g Quaro-Reveuse d’Angis) held gamely to win after a front-end journey with Eric Raffin aboard. This J.M. Baudouin owner and trainer campaigner won for the 10th time in his career now for 2985,060€ earned.
Flash Royal (8g Royal Dream-My Love Lady) rallied for second at 12/1 odds with Manuel Criado at the lines for trainer Stephane Bouisson. Third was 44/1 outsider Gaudeo (7m Tsar de Tonnerre-Theresa) handled by Antoine Dabouis. The 25-meter handicapped and 10/1 Fakir du Ranch (8g Rockfeller Center) landed fourth for Y.A. Briand. Well known Eberton was sixth and Fifty Five Bond finished eighth.
Yesterday at Enghien was their featured Prix du Port de Grenelle (purse 68,000€, monte, 2250 meters for European 7–11-year-olds) and 35/1 outsider French Way Of Life (8f Vailllant Cash-Prime Way Carless) scored timed in 1.12.5kr with an impressive front-end path. Loanne Fauchon was the winning jockey for trainer/owner Gregoire Houel. This mare secured her 13th career victory now for 279,565€ earned.
Three lengths back second was 5.7/1 Gaia d’Occagnes (7f Titan d;Occagnes-Padia d;Occagnes) handed by Anthony Barrier for trainer J.P. Raffegeau. Flora Venesi (8f Gazouillis-Mission Venesi) was third at 7.4/1 with Helene Godey her jockey for trainer Franc Leblanc.
