Geisha Speed upsets in Prix de L’ile de France

Today’s Vincennes featured Gr. I International Prix de L’ile de France (purse 200,000€, monte, 2175 meters voltstart, ten starters ages 4-11) saw 11/1 odds Geisha Speed (Uriel Speed-Star Speed) score for jockey Anthony Barrier.

Third was 5.1/1 Granvillaise Bleue (8f Jag de Bellouet-Lady de Brevol) handled by Camille Levesque for trainer Pierre Levesque and breeder/owner Michel Gallier. Inshore (6m Real de Lou) at 16/1 and 2.4/1 odds favorite Flamme de Goutier (9f Ready Cash) completed the top five.

On the undercard, the Prix Leopold Verroken (Gr. III, 2100 meters autostart, 60,000€ purse with nine three-year-olds at the start) was the highlight. The 6.7/1 odds Loulou de Mye (3m Clif du Pommereux) scored in 1.13.1kr for trainer Romain Charles Larue and owner Ecurie du Mont July. He won for the second time in eight starts advancing his career earnings to 93,360€. La Joyeuse Wicz (3f Fabulous Wood-Tarentelle Jenilou) was second for Eric Raffin at the lines for breeder/owner/trainer Louis Baudron at 7.8/1 odds. The 1.3/1 favorite Lapis Lazuli (3m Ready Cash) ended eighth with Jean Michel Bazire up.
