Global Trustworthy, Edy Girifalco Gio win at Montegiorgio

Two high level harness racing events for aged trotters and three-year-olds highlighted this Montegiorgio program. The aged performers contested the Premio Basilio Matti (purse 35,200€, 1600 meters autostart) with the 1.11.5kr timed victory to 2.7/1 Global Trustworthy (10m Muscle Hill-Trophy Stand-Garland Lobell) with trainer Alessandro Gocciadoro at the lines.

He raced in the front end and held off 5/1 Akela Pal Ferm (7f Maharajah-Remilla de Palle-SJs Photo) for driver Antonio di Nardo. The 5.7/1 Conan OP (5m Mago d’Amore-Catch The Wind-Toss Out) was four lengths back third with Enrico Bellei driving.

In the Grand Premio Marche Elio Matti (purse 37,400€, 2060 meters autostart, three year olds) the 1.8/1 odds Edy Girifalco Gio (3m Victor Gio-Mururoa As-Lemon Dra) scored from post one with Alessandro Gocciadoro aboard. He was first up on the backside of lap two and surged to the front for good. Etereo Jet (3m Igor Font-Sgarza Jet-Supergill) was second at 6.7/1 odds with Di Nardo aboard. Third was 44/1 Eclissi BFC (3m Face Time Bourbon-Una Francis-Exploit Caf).

Coming up on August 26 is the Gr. I Sundsvall Open at Bergsaker with a solid field that includes Hail Mary, San Moteur, Power and Charmant de Zack. It should be a good one. Last year Moni Viking was the winner with Bjorn Goop aboard. The race record is 1.10.0kr set by Delicious and Victory Tilly won this race three times as did trainers Jerry Riordan, Stig H. Johansson and Ake Svanstedt.
