August 21, 2015 – Robert Bergh’s trainee Going For Gold ZAZ (7m Scarlet Knight-Sprite ZAZ) won today’s Cagnes-sur-mer featured event, the Gr. II International Prix du Departement des Alpes Maritimes carrying a purse of €180,000 and raced over 1609 meters (one mile) autostart.
13 starters contested the event and Dominik Locqueneux rallied the winner, owned in Sweden by Kings Arms/Avesta AB, late in the lane for a length and a half score over 73.3/1 Roller Quick (10m Derby du Gite-Arquebuse) with trainer Jean Uroz up and 5.5/1 Pascia’Lest (6m Varenne-Superiors Sun) with Roberto Andreghetti aboard for trainer Fabrice Souloy.
Pacesetter Vincennes (7f Spotlite Lobell-Lina Trot) settled for fourth driven by Bjorn Goop for trainer Souloy at 9.2/1 and fifth went to 97/1 Nando Font (8m Yankee Slide-Lady Essie) and trainer/driver Lucio Becchetti.
Time for the mile was 1.09.7kr (1:52.15). 2/5 odds favorite Roi du Lupin finished a sluggish seventh beaten more than ten lengths with Stefan Melander’s Standout home eighth. 8/1 Turbo Jet made an early miscue and was disqualified.
