Harry de Sassy shines in Trophee Vert Series

The 2.8/1 odds Harry de Sassy (7g Quaro-Romy de Sassy) rallied three wide at the head of stretch and then drew off for a three-length harness racing victory over his 13 rivals in the Trophee Vert Series Grand Prix d’Eauze et de L’Armeqtac at Eauze Racecourse in France Sunday, May 26.

The full field of 14 competed over 3000 meters distance handicap, for the 50,000€ purse. Race time in the deep turf was 1.21.2kr. The winner overcame a 25-meter handicap to secure his 17^th career victory in 35 starts for trainer/driver Jules Leroulley and for owner Mathilde Collet. Harry has earned 191,980€.

Second was 15/1 Gomera (8f Seduisant Fouteau) handled by trainer/driver Christophe Feyte with 19/1 and 50-meter handicapped Fakir Merite (9m Uaukir) home third for trainer/driver Franck Marty. 23/1 odds Hollywood du Bois was fourth and 5.7/1 Iron Jet ended fifth.

On Saturday (May 25) at Enghien the featured Prix de L’Obelisque (purse 75,000€, 2150 meters autostart, 15 European starters ages 7-11) went to 18/1 Gold Mencourt (8m Bird Parker-Navaja Balance) reined by Adrien Lamy. Nicolas Binet trains this 11-time winner in 64 starts for Ecurie J.P.R. Vilault. The winner has earned 321,410€.

Gardner Shaw (8g Ready Cash) was second for Francois Legadeau at 16/1 with third to 19/1 odds Felix du Bourg (9m Quid de Chahains) with trainer Bruno Marie at the lines. Race time was 1.12.4kr,

On the Enghien undercard was the Prix du Rhone (purse 71,000€, 2150 meters autostart, 16 European starters ages 5-7). The 2.4/1 odds favorite delivered. Icone Madrik (6f Royal Dream-Tequila Dara) scored timed in 1.11.8kr with Franck Nivard driving for owner/trainer J.M. Baudouin. Icone now has 10 career wins in 30 starts for 217,050€ earned.

The 11/1 odds King Schermer (7g Trixton) was second for trainer/driver Michel Rothengatter with third earned by 6.9/1 Joumba de Guez (5f Carat Williams-Quomba de Geuz) driven by Alexandre Abrivard for trainer Jean Michel Bazire. The great reinsman AA has just return from a long injury sideline. Welcome back young man!!!
