The first Prix d’Amerique qualifier took place today (Sunday, Nov. 20) at Paris-Vincennes in France with the Gr. II Prix de Bretagne (purse 120,000£, 2700 meters, International 4-10 year olds) going to rallying Hip Hop Haufor (5m Up And Quick-Villa Haufor-Notre Haufor) with breeder/owner/trainer Chriatian Bigeon at the lines.
Race time was 1.12.4kr as the winner recorded his 10th career victory now for 345,170£ earned. He was off at 5.4/1 odds and bested Italiano Vero (4m Ready Cash-Baraka d;Henlou) with David Thomain up at 5.9/1 for owner/trainer Phiippe Allaire.
They were placed second as 10/1 Hussard de Landret (5m Bird Parker) was placed fifth driven by owner/trainer Benoit Robin. Placed third was 1.9/1 Ampia Mede SM (6f Ganymede-Polimpia Slide SM) handled by Franck Niavrd for trainer Fabrice Souloy. Placed fourth was 17/1 Flamme du Goutier (7f Ready Cash-Utopie du Goutier) for Theo Duvaldestin.
Finishing sixth was 9/1 Hooker Berry (6m Booster Winner) with Nicolas Bazire up for trainer Jean Michel Bazire. Galius, an Amerique starter in 2022, was scratched.
The 16 remaining starters were generally a group of younger trotteurs that had not faced top international competition. The winning Christian Bigeon is an accomplished horseman over many years campaigning mostly his homebreds. Hip Hop earned a spot in the 2023 Amerique today.
There were three other groupe contests on the undercard. The Gr. II Prix Ceneri Forcinal (monte International four year olds, purse 120,000£, 2700 meters) went to Indigo du Poret (4m Dollar Macker-Une Pluie du Poret) for jockey Eric Raffin and trainer Stephane Cingland timed in 1.13.5kr. This was his sixth career win now for 293,830£ earned.
Ideale du Chene (4f Bird Parker) was second for P.Ph Ploquin and Inshore (4m Real de Lou) landed third for jockey Alexandre Abrivard.
The Gr. III Prix de Boissy-Saint-Leger (purse 80,000£, 2100 meters autostart) saw Horsy Dream (5m Scipion du Goutier-Bonanza du Closet) score for Eric Raffin in a quick 1.10.1kr. Pierre Belloche trains this 11 time winner now for 253,470£ earned.
Bilo Jepson (5g Timoko) was second for driver David Thomain with third earned by Huwaga (5f Ready Cash) with trainer Jean Michel Bazire at the lines.
The Prix Guy Deloison (Gr. II, 2700 meters for International three year olds, purse 120,000£) saw Just A Gigolo (3m Boccador du Simm-Blue Valentine) score in 1.13.4kr with Franck Nivard up for breeder/owner/trainer Philippe Allaire.
Just A Gigolo won for the 13th time and advanced his earnings to 737,450£. Juninho Dry (3m Carat Williams-Delicatessen) landed third for driver P.Ph. Ploquin, trainer Sebastien Guarato and Ecurie Dry. Deus Zack (3m Victor Gio-Martina Grif) was third for Eric Raffin, trainer Guarato and Scuderia No Ma Farm Srl.
Quite a day of racing at Paris-Vincennes, one of many as this winter meet goes forward.
