Icebreaker (4m Chocolatier-Swiss Watch-From Above) took today’s (Aug. 25) Dansk Trav Derby 2024 (purse to winner 79,283€, 3000 meters autostart) at Charlottenlund, Denmark timed in1.13.9kr for driver Magnus A. Djuse, trainer Jeppe Juel and owner Glenn Sigurd Syvaldsen.
The winner, off at 2.83/1 odds, now sports eight career wins in just 13 starts and he is three for four in ’24.
Finishing second was Isseymiyake Secret (4m Ens Snapshot) with Thomas Uhrberg the trainer/driver and away at 5.3/1 followed by Julien Sensei (4m Prodigious) at 43/1 odds. The winner was acquired as a yearling by the current owner for 330,000DK kroner.

There were a host of interesting races on the undercard. Gangnan Style K (8m Love You-Rania-Viking Kronos) took the 2950 meters voltstart Derbystayern (first prize 9,700€) timed in 1.14.6kr and off at 11.8/1, driven by Magnus A. Djuse for conditioner Gorden Dahl.
The Djuse/Dahl team also won with Look At Me Sisu (3m Father Patrick) timed in 1.13.1kr and with Our Brodde (3m Googoo Gaagaa) in 1.15.4kr in a three-year-old test.
The Derby Consolation (first prize 6,467€, 2000 meters autostart) saw the 10.3/1 Iron Design (4g SJs Cavier-Bombastic Design-Prodigious) score in 1.13.0kr for Rene Kjer aboars for breeder/owner/trainer Kenneth P. Hansen.
The veteran Emoji (8m Broad Bahn-Shelovesyoubutcher-Love You) scored at 9.9/1 odds timed in 1.10.9kr in a fast class event raced over 1600 meters autostart for 12,934€ first money with Birger Jorgensen up for trainer Flemming Jensen. The 2.2/1 Eddie The Eagle (8g SJs Photo), yes by the great SJs Photo, also won today timed in 1.13.0kr over 2000 meters autostart with owner/trainer Michael Lonborg at the lines.
The program began with the Mark Ingdams Minne for two-year-olds going for 6,467€ first prize. Here the 12.2/1 odds Lonesomerider (2m Power-Earthwindnfire AP-Dream Vacation) ralled to win in 1.16.8kr for driver Jan Dahlgaard and trainer Peter Rudbeck for Stuteri Hole In One.
