Machiavel Bourbon sets record at Auctav Yearling Sale

Thursday (Aug. 24) in Normandy, France was the Auctav Yearling Sale that saw 106 harness racing lots presented. There were 56 lots sold for an average of 49,286€ of which there were five sold for 150,000€or more.

Machiavel Bourbon

The toppers are shown below with the leader being Machiavel Bourbon (Prodigious-Vita Bourbon) at 580,000€ to Trotting Bloodstock.

This is a half-brother to the champion Face Time Bourbon. He sold for a record price for a yearling in Europe surpassing the previous mark of 436,000€ in Sweden.

The sire Prodigious (Goetmals Wood-Image d’Odyssee-Buvetier d’Aunou) was bred by Jean Philippe Dubois and has produced Carat Williams (1,207,806€), Earl Simon (1,025,685€) and Vision Intense (884,300€). 70% of his 940 sired foals have qualified and offspring have earned over 60,100,000€.

Lot 84 Mon Amount d’Aurcy (Greenshoe-Portaleza d’Aurcy) 150,000€ to Ecurie Hunter Valley

Lot 87 Magical (Ready Cash-Good Mood) 250,000€ to Ecurie Elag

The well-bred harness racing trotter Iron Parker (5g Bird Parker-Salome-Love You) held on to win the Prix de la Capelle (purse 52,000€, 2925 meters for five-year-olds) at Cagnes sur Mer on Aug. 24. The 2/10 favorite was reined by Christophe Martens for trainer Vincent Martens and owner/breeder Francois Damiani. This victory was his ninth in 21 career appearances for 163,550€ earned.

Idem Jihem (5g Nem-Rorlia du Laulot) was a close second at 7.5/1 odds with trainer Michiel Izzu driving for owner J.P. Izzu. Third to the line was 59/1 outsider Isha  Besnot (5f Tornado Bello-Sarah Besnot) handled by owner/trainer Nicolas Montagne.
