Jezabelle Bie, Kalif Landia win Cornulier qualifiers

A top harness racing card at Paris-Vincennes today featured two Cornulier qualifiers one each for four and five year olds. The summary of these races follows in this report.

In the Prix de Vincennes (Gr. I monte, purse 240,000€, 2700 meters, 15 three year old starters) Lexie de Banville (3f Real de Lou-Carnebiere) scored in 1.13.2kr at 6.4/1 odds with Adrien Lamy the winning jockey for owner/trainer Thomas Levesque. This was her fifth win in 15 starts for 385,680€ earned. Three lengths back was 50/1 Lutin des Bordes (3m Bilibili) with  Damien Bonne aboard for J.P. Monclin. The 52/1 Lisbonne Dry (3f Singalo) was third for jockey Paul Phillippe Poquin. Lucky Sibey (3m Etonnant) was fourth at 187/1 for Francois Lagadeuc. Those dq’d included 8/10 odds favorite Lionheart and 5.5/1 Lucky Jackson.

The Prix Jean Dumouch (Gr. III, purse 90,000€, 2850 meters distance handicap, 14 European starters) went to 1.7/1 odds Inexess Bleu (6g Vittel de Brevol-Pearly Of Charm) with Alexandre Abrivard at the lines for L.C. Abrivard training for owner/breeder Michel Gallier. The winner won his second straight and now has 13 wins in 43 starts for 597,280€ earned. Gaspar d’Angis (8g Quaro) was next at 3.1/1 odds and a 25 meter handicap handled by Eric Raffin for owner/trainer J.M. Baudouin. Third was 27/1 Goeland d’Haufor (8g Voltigeur de Myrt) with David Thomain driving for Christian Bigeon, the owner/breeder/trainer. The co-featured Prix Bilibili – Cornulier Q2 (Gr. I International, purse 200,000€, 2700 meters, 15 starters all five  years old) saw 14/1 Jezabelle  Bie (5f Dijon-All In Las Vegas-Magnificent Rodney) score in 1.15.7kr ridden by Paul Philippe Ploquin for trainer Michael Izzo and breeder/owner J.P. Izzo. This was the winner’s fifth career victory in 38 tries now for 216,315€ earned. The 2.2/1 favorite Joumba de Guez (5f  Carat Williams-Quoumba de Guez) was a close second for jockey Eric Raffin, trainer Nicolas Bazire and breeder/owner Ecurie Vautors. Jasmine de Vau (5f Seduissant Fouteau) was a close third at  158/1 odds for Guillaume Lenain and trainer Charles Dreux. J’Aime Le Foot (5m Boccador de Simm)  was  fourth at 5/1 and Jean Balthazar (5m Alto de Viette) landed fifth at 10/1 odds. Only those who have won at least thirty-five races are admitted to ride in the Bilibili (by holding a professional riding permit). Priority for participation in the Bilibili Prize is given to the first 3 of the Joseph Lafosse Prize of the present meeting. The co-featured Prix Jag de Bellouet – Cornulier Q1 (Gr. I International monte, purse 200,000€, 2700 meters, 13 starters four year olds) went to 4.5/1 odds Kalif Landia (4m Un Charme  Fou-Tima Landia) timed in 1.12.3kr for jockey Benjamin Rochard. The five time career winner of 493,205€ is trained by owner A,P. Grimault. He closed from the clouds to secure this exceptional victory over 36/1Kalaula  de L’Epine (4f Discours Joyeux-Paula Jim) with Adrien Lamy aboard this J.G. Van Eeckhaute owned and trained performer. Kaviarissime (4m Love You-Elegantissime) was third at 5/1 with trainer Mathieu Mottier the jockey for Ecurie Ch. Bridault. Kelly de Banville (4f Eridan)  was fourth and Katinka Aimef (4f Singalo) finished fifth.

In the Prix Albert Rayon (Gr. III, 70,000€ purse, 2100 meters autostart, 11 European starters) the 9/1 La Star Roc (3f Aldo des Champs-Corsica Roc) scored in a quick 1.11.1kr for Yoann Lebourgeois, trainer Bertrand Le Beller and owner Christian Tesson. This was the third career victory for La Star Roc that has earnings of 141,215€.  The 1.2/1 odds favorite Louve de Reve d’Or (3f Bold Eagle-Charmeuse de Simm) finished second with Eric Raffin driving for trainer Marc Sassier and owner Pascal Gerard. Funny Girl (3f Vitruvio) was third at 38/1 with Alexandre Abrivard driving the H.E. Bondo trainee for Althea Arl. Little Star Fleury (3f Doberman) was fourth at 53/1 handled by Francois Lagadeuc for trainer Hedi LeBec. Love Letter (3f  Gotland) was fifth driven by Julien Dubois, also the owner/trainer.

Prix Une de Mai (Gr. II, purse 120,000€, 2700 meters, 14 starters two year olds fillies) went to 22/1 odds Monica Jisce (2f Dollar Macker-Charlotte Jisce) timed in 1.15.7kr in rein to Eric Raffin. Jocelyn Robert trains this two time winner in five starts for 122,850€.  Sandrine Robert bred and owns this filly. The 51/1 Margaux des Arris (2f Carat Williams-Fusee) was second driven by Francois Lagadeuc for trainer Vincent Lebarque and legendary owner/breeder Ecurie Comte P de Montesson. Third home was 31/1 Moneqasque (2f Goetmals Wood-Fesniere) with Mathieu Mottier teaming the J.M. Baudouin owned and trained performer. Morality (2f Rocklyn-Union Quality) was fourth at 22/1 driven by trainer/owner Julien Dubois. The 1.4/1 odds favorite Marion d’Atout was a dq.
