Lifetime mark taken in Cagnes sur Mer feature

At Cagnes sur Mer (France) in the Prix des Merles (purse 33,000€, 2150 meters, four-year-olds) the 1.1/1 harness racing favorite Kotkie (4f Love You-Erika Dream) scored for David Bekaert and trainer J.R. Delliaux.

She was timed in a new record 1.11.3kr and recorded her fourth win in 19 starts now for 97,610€ earned. Finishing second was 10/1 odds Kanaka de Buiset (4f Enino du Pommereux) driven by Christophe Martens for trainer Sylvain Roger. Karbone Cash (4g Charly du Noyer) was third at 20/1 with trainer Loris Garcia at the lines.

Driver Christophe Martens won the first three races on the CSM card. Those victories were with 4/10 odds King Cole (7g Maharajah) in the Prix des Casentles de la Creation timed in 1.12.7kr; then 3.1/1 Cool Kronos (6g Readly Express) in the Prix de Rome Tor di Valle timed in 1.14.1kr; and with 1.5/1 odds Iris des Champs (6f Alto de Viette) in the Prix Vrille et Metiers D’Art timed in 1.13.9kr.  All were trained by Vincent Martens.

It was also reported that veteran class master Fakir du Lorault (9m Vaillant Cash) died after a fracture while in Switzerland. The 12-time career winner of 723,025€ took a speed record of 1.09.7kr.
