Krak d’Azur wins Gr. III Prix Henri Callier

Trots at Cagnes sur Mer this day were highlighted by the Gr. III Prix Henri Callier (purse 47,000€, 2925 meters, 12 starters all four-year olds). The 3.8/1 odds Krak d’Azur (4g Real de Lou-Eliazure) scored in 1.15.2kr with Nicolas Ensch driving for trainer Henk Grift and breeder/owner Joseph Vanduffel.

This was his first victory in France and his earnings reached 83,018€. Second to the line was the 7/10 odds favorite Krooner d’Heripre (4g Rolling d’Heripre-Classical Song) reined by Romain Derieux for Ecurie d’Heripre. The dam Classical Song is a daughter of Goetmals Wood-Ingala-Buvetier d’Aunou-Tangala, classic Jean Pierre Dubois pedigree. Third was 12/1 Kerozen (4g Express Jet) handled by trainer Mickael Cormy for Ecurie du Vieux Chene.

Earlier on the card the 3.1/1 Galba Ringeat (8g Bird Parker-Querida des Fouees) won the Prix Jules Roucayrol (purse 49,000€, 2925 meters, 15 European starters ages 8-11) timed in 1.13.0kr. Romain Derieux teamed and trains the 16-time winner in 46 starts for Ecurie Nixxon. He has earnings of 398,979€. Felix du Bourg (9m Quid de Chahains) was second at 34/1 with Bruno Marie the trainer/driver. The 10/1 odds Douglas du Pont (11g Real de Lou) was third for trainer/driver Nicolas Ensch.

Later the Prix Andre Rouzaud (purse 27,000€, 2925 meters, 10 three-year old starters) went to 1.17.8kr timed and 4.8/1 odds Lord Ellington (3m Follow You-vive Majyc) rallied to win for the third time in six career starts for earnings of 31,010€. Owner/breeder/trainer Louis Baudron directed the winner that defeated 5/1Luciano Star (3g Feliciano) and Yannick Alain Briand. Third on the pegs was 10/1 Let Me Sixty One (3g Uniclove) with trainer David Cinier driving.
