Monte feature goes to 6-1 mild longshot

The 6.3/1 odds monte harness racing performer Forain Jenilou (9g Village Mystic-Quinolette Jenilou) took today’s (March 26) Prix du Pont de Grenelle (purse 68,000€, 2250 meters, 16 starters ages 7-11) at Enghien-Soisy in France.

Damien Bonne was the winning jockey for trainer Franck Terry and owner Maurice Maige. The Louis Baudron bred veteran now has 12 career victories in 63 starts for 261,160€ earned. Race time was 1.12.4kr.

Finishing second was 41/1 Dick des Malberaux (11g Echo-Dodea Josselyn) with Tamara Mathias-Maisonnette aboard for Yoann Lavigne. Third was 3.8/1 Djeson d’Ariana (11g Cygnus d’Odyssee) with Mathieu Mottier in the irons for owner/trainer Daniel Bethouart.

Earlier the Prix du Pont d’Iena (purse 41,000€, 2150 meters autostart, 13 starters aged five) went to 1.14.9kr timed and 4.9/1 odds Jericho (5g Bold Eagle-Absinthe-Quatre Jintlet) with Eric Raffin driving this Yannkick Desmet owned and trained four-time winner in 15 starts.

The Etienne Dubois bred gelding now has earnings of 63,150€. The 3.3/1 Jag Haufor (5g Real de Lou-Fleuron Perrine) was second with David Thomain teaming the Christian Bigeon bred/owned/trained trotteur. Third was 3.1/1 Jeune Ami (5m Bold Eagle) with Matthieu Abrivard driving the L.C. Abrivard trainee that Yannick Desmet owned and trained four-time winner in 15 starts.

Wednesday at Marseille A Borely is the Grand National du Trot (Gr III, purse 90,000€, 3000 meters distance handicap, 16 starters ages 5-10) that is the Quinte + race of the day). Eden Basque, Eberton and Floreal are in the field but handicapped. Les We Kan might be in play without a distance penalty, with Romain Derieux aboard.
