Nortolanda wins 236,951€ Deutsches Traber Derby

The 4.6/1 odds Nortolanda (4f Bird Parker-You’ve Got Mail) won the 2024 Deutsches Traber Derby at Berlin-Mariendorf Racecourse in Germany (purse 236,951€, 1900 meters autostart, 12 four-year-old starters) with harness racing trainer Michel F. Rothengatter driving for Gerrits Recycling.

Race time was 1.11.4kr (1:54.4) for the four-time 2024 winner in six starts. Photobox (4g SJs Photo-Shelby Love) was second at 10.3/1 with Robin Bot the pilot for trainer Wolfgang Nimczyk, Remember Me (4m Maharajah-Red Riding Hood) was a 10.8/1 odds third with Joiakim Lovgren at the lines. The 1.4/1 favorite Brothers in Arms (4m Fabulous Wood-Elusive Melody) landed fourth with Michael Nimczyk up.Hans Hazelaar

There were two tests on the program for two-year-olds named the Jugend Preis ’24 each for a purse of 15,000€ and raced over 1900 meters autostart. The winners were 3.6/1 Piece Of Cake (2g –Ulrca Boko) driven by Dion P. Tesselaar for Carpe Diem Stable. The other division, for fillies, went to 5.3/1 Geisha Road Grif (2f Wishing Stone-Mon Chaerie Heidia) reined by Thorsten Tietz for conditioner Rober Gamuller.

The prior day at Mariendorf was the Deutsches Stuten Derby (purse 98,984€, 1900 meters autostart, 12 starters mares four years old) with victory earned by 2.2/1 odds Speedrise Lady S (4f Walner-Smexi) owned by Dragon Trotters BV and handled by trainer Michel F. Rothengatter.

This was the winner’s fifth win this year in seven appearances. Race time was 1.12.34. The 15.6/1 Habibii (4f Villiam-Iniasta) was second driven by Marciano Hauber and 32.2/1 Exmes As (4f Crazed-Catherine Hall) was third for Stefan Persson. Cosmea (4f SJs Caviar-Cilantro) was fourth for Robin Bot.

Top European trotting continues this weekend first with the 2024 Sundvall Open at Bergsaker on August 24. The white hot Borups Victory is the early favorite with Francesco Zet and High On Pepper among the challengers.

On the same evening will be the Grand Prix du Departement des Alpes Martitime at Cagnes sur Mer (purse 180,000€, distance 1609 meters autostart, nine starters ages 4-11) and here Go On Boy and Ampia Mede SM are among the likely favorites.
