Pedigree prevails at Paris-Vincennes

Pedigree, human and equine, prevailed today at Paris-Vincennes. The Prix de Pontrieux (monte, purse 46,000€, 2700 meters for eight European six-year-olds) went to 1.2/1 odds favorite Islamorada (6f Royal Dream-Ramona-Jag de Bellouet) that secured her fifth victory in 31 starts now for 98,130€ earned.

Race time was 1.14.0kr for the Camille Levesque ridden mare for breeder/owner/trainer Pierre Levesque. This one bested 4.4/1 Ilien de Vrie (6g Bird Parker) for jockey Benjamin Rochard and trainer Louis Baudron. Intrigante (6f Voltigeur de Myrt) rallied for third handled by P-Y Verva for trainer Franck Leblanc.

Then in the Prix d’Argenier (purse 52,000€, 2100 meters autostart, 14 four-year old starters) the 3.1/1 favorite Kiss Me Bourbon (4f Orlando Vici-Diva Bourbon-Ready Cash) scored in 1.13.4kr with Franck Ouvrie driving. Sebastian Guarato trains the Ecurie du H de Saint Martin owned filly that won for the third time in 14 starts for earnings of 74,930€. The Ready Cash dam is a daughter of Une Belle Bourbon (Love You-Etta Extra-Florestan-Une Crown-Speedy Crown), the Jean Pierre Dubois Franco-American match. Khaleesi Smart (4f Fighter Smart) was second for Gabriele Gelormini and trainer Alain Chavatte. Third was 107/1 outsider Kinnaird (4f Un Mec d’Heripre) handled by Francois Lagadeuc for Bruno Bourgoin

Pedigree again surfaced in the Prix d’Orleans (purse 46,000€, 2850 meters, 14 European six-year olds) where 12/1 Freedom (6g Muscle Hill-Peaceful Way) scored in 1.13.2kr. This was his first win in France in two starts with career earnings of 115,216€ earned. Bred in Norway this winner bested 6.1/1 odds Illico de Busset (6g Charly du Noyer) with Eric Raffin aboard for trainer Charles Cuiller. Third was 22/1 Iconoclaste Erable (6g Look de Star) for David Thomain and trainer Clement Thomain. Back to the winner that is a son of the US Hall of Fame mare Peaceful Way (2001, Angus Hall-Royal Bait-Royal Prestige) she a winner of US$2,746,240 with a speed record of 1:51.4 for the mile.
