The January 28th Prix d’Amerique (Gr. I International, purse 1,000,000€, 2700 meters, 18 starters ages 4-11) field of 18 is set and it’s a very competitive group on paper.
The current leaders of France represent a balance of youth and veterans, there currently racing well – Gu d’Heripre, Go On Boy, Italiano Vero, Izoard Vedaquais, Ampia Mede SM, Idao de Tillard and last year’s winner Hooker Berry.
Trainers Philippe Alllaire, Fabrice Souloy and Thierry Duvaldestin send out multiple starters. The great champion and 21-time Gr. I winner Vivid Wise As makes perhaps his final go in the Amerique at age 10 for trainer Alessandro Gocciadoro. Sweden has three entrants including the great mare Joviality plus Aetos Kronos and Hail Mary.
