Today (Aug. 10) the Aby World Grand Prix in Sweden (total purse 10,200,000SEK with 6,000,000SEK to the winner – purse in euro 887,400€ with winner’s share 522,000€, Gr. I International, 3140 meters autostart) will be held now with nine starters following scratch of Oracle Tile due to a medical situation reportedly involving administration of a hoof medicinal ointment applied inside of the time frame allowed.
Further, Eric Raffin was injured in a training accident in France where he was kicked and will not drive Horsy Dream. Trainer Pierre Belloche will take over the reins.
“We wanted to attract the best horses, then you never know what a litter looks like, ten horses instead of twelve at three thousand meters is maybe too little, but we’re going for it. We had hoped for more French horses, there has been a little negative talk, but the three best horses are in place at least, says Åby’s CEO and sports director Jon Pedersen.
The World Grand Prix Lineup is shown below. The race card this day is quite exceptional with six other races carrying winner’s purse share of 150,000SEK or greater. Italy’s Alessandro Gocciadoro has six horses entered to race throughout this Aby program.
